I'm Jemma, a BABCP fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and qualified Mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy Practioner with 19 years experience working within NHS mental health services in England and Wales.
Alongside my private practice, I continue to work within the NHS as a CBT therapist and clinical supervisor.
I have extensive experience providing evidence-based psychological therapy to adults experiencing depression, anxiety disorders, OCD and trauma-related difficulties, and have been delivering high-intensity CBT for more than 10 years, working both face-to-face and online.
I have worked across a range of NHS mental health services and roles, including many years within NHS Talking Therapies, (previously known as IAPT). My previous roles have included Lead Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and Senior Locality Clinician which have given me experience across clinical practice, supervision, leadership and service development. I have also worked as a clinical educator where I contributed to the teaching, supervision and assessment of clinicians undertaking postgraduate CBT training.
My approach is warm, collaborative and compassionate, while remaining grounded in evidence-based practice. I aim to provide a space where we can develop a shared understanding of the difficulties you are experiencing, reflect on what may be keeping them going, and explore different ways of responding that are meaningful to you.
I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative and makes sense to you. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, we will work together to develop an understanding of what you are experiencing, what may be keeping difficulties going and what you would like to be different.
My approach combines the structure and practical focus of CBT with an emphasis on reflection, curiosity and compassion. Where appropriate, I also draw on mindfulness-based approaches to help you develop greater awareness of thoughts, emotions and patterns of responding.
Therapy can involve trying out new ways of approaching difficulties both within and between sessions. We will regularly reflect on what is helpful and adapt our work together as needed.

I am also a qualified Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression (MBCT-D) practitioner with experience delivering MBCT-D online.
Alongside my clinical work, I am an experienced clinical supervisor and have been providing individual and group supervision for around 15 years. I also have experience teaching and supervising clinicians undertaking postgraduate CBT training and the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
